"When on a picture I have cut out or turned round
a cow's head or occasionally painted the entire picture upside down I
didn't do it to create literature.
I will insert into my picture a physical shock motivated by pictoresque
reasons, in other words: a fourth dimension. It is not to be talked about
me as of miraculous tales, of the phantastic, of Chagall the flying artist.
I am painter, being unconsciously conscious."
